I stay clear of the huge TB drives due to a drive i had that cratered and I lost allmost everything. I stick with 500 MB or so. That way if one crashed I haven't lost it all. Hard Drives are pretty cheap these days. I prefer Western Digital because they've never let me down. Stay away from I/O magic, F'n thing bombed a month after I had it.

Yep, I have two, one 250 gb, one 500 gb. The first I bought three yrs ago when I arrived here, based on Forumite rec's (Seagate), and then I got another Seagate a month or two ago...the newer one is 1/5th the size, and twice as big storage wise! Can carry it my pocket. All my DEAD fits on the 250 (early era bias benefit!), and everything else fits on the 500. Then, between work and home, I have enough puters to have everything in four/five "places" (ie, ext HDs, puter HDs, free disks).

Paranoid? Yep...lost ANYTHING the past five yrs? Nope! Even with three diff puter crashes...I never wait to back up anything--it always is in two/three places by the end of the day...
